Woven Ribbon Card Tutorial
02/06/2017
Grab some ribbon and make a ONE-OF-A-KIND Card!! This technique is very similar to those pot holders you made as kid - so I know you can do this!
Start with a "window," which I die cut using a large heart from the SWEET & SASSY FRAMELITS DIES. Place TEAR & TAPE around the window on the BACKSIDE of the cardstock.
I chose 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Blushing Bride and Pool Party for weaving because this is a Baby Card. Remove the TEAR & TAPE backing and lay strips of ribbon across the opening lightly pressed onto the tape. TIP: leave a tiny 1/32" between these ribbons to make the next step easier. Next, weave another color thru the ribbons by lifting every other ribbon slightly with the tip of a scissors.
Press the ends firmly onto the TEAR & TAPE. Trim all ends inside the edge of the cardstock. Fasten any loose ribbons ends with glue dots.
Just look at the SWEET, TEXTURED results!! Try using all ribbon scraps for multi-colors. Try mixing narrow and medium width ribbons. Try metallic ribbons. Try a 2 by 2 weaving pattern. Try weaving at an angle (bias.) TOO MANY POSSIBILITIES!! Just play with it!
I used the heart die cut from the front to stamp my inside sentiment. When using soft colors I avoid the harshness of black ink. This color is Soft Suede.
VIOLA!! Remember to make a coordinating envelope using the Envelope Punch Board! This VERY SPECIAL card is going to baby AUDREY GRACE, a precious little blessing!
You MUST try this!!
