Tarpon Springs Trip

20141010_131543

Recently we headed north on the west coast of Florida to visit Tarpon Springs. First stop was Long Boat Key for lunch on the beach. October in SW Florida is still around 90 degrees for highs.

20141010_183003

This is the working seaport and shopping district of historic Tarpon Springs on the Anclote River. It's locally referred to as the "Sponge Docks."

20141010_184428

Florida west coast sponge beds were accidentally discovered in 1873 by Key West turtle fishermen. Diving as the primary method of sponge harvesting was introduced by John Cocoris, the first Greek to arrive in Tarpon Spring in 1896. In 1905, he and 5 other Greeks started a prosperous sponge diving business that triggered a migration of Greeks. Today, Tarpon Springs has the largest Greek population outside of Greece!

We took a charter 3 miles out from the coast to Anclote Key Beach and Lighthouse State Park. On the way, three dophins (one a baby!) played in our boat's wake. LOVE seeing the dolphins in their NATURAL habitat!!

This is an aerial view of Anclote Key State Park of 403 acre. This picture was not taken by me.

Saw a lovely sunset at Sunset Beach! We really enjoy exploring Florida!

Ladybug Thank You Notes

100_4692These are two Thank You Notes I designed for the Three Year Old Birthday I  mentioned yesterday. The little Ladybugs are easy. Tip: draw a faint 1-1/4" circle onto Real Red Cardstock. Punch 1/8" holes within the circle. Last, punch out the 1-1/4" Real Red Cirlce and back with a 1-1/4" black circle. This is sooo much easier than trying to glue on tiny 1/8" black circles!! These are 3-1/2" X 5" Note Cards.

The "THX" was created with

Little Letters Framelits #133730 - $28.95.

Ladybug Party

100_4691

This was a FUN project! I made Ladybug Third Birthday Invitations for my sweet grand-niece!! She lives in the northwest so I have only seen her once, but I get lots of pictures! The ladybug wings are hinged on a brad so they swing apart to reveal the invitation (not shown.)

100_4700

A swarm of Ladybugs!!

100_4690

I used the Circle Framelits, 1/2" Circle Punch and 1-1/4" Circle Punch. Stop back tomorrow to see the coordinating Thank You Notes I created!

Tassel Time

100_4724

Did you try the tassels from my previous post?? Here's another idea using those cute tassels on a thank you note card.

100_4725

This time I threaded the twine through the button BEFORE making the second tassel. I could slide the button along the twine to adjust the tassel placement.

100_4726

The "THX" is die cut using the Little Letters Framelits and placing black cardstock behind. You really MUST try these fun tassels - so just scroll down to the previous post!

"Put on your TASSELS!" Tutorial

100_4716

Giggle!!! There is no dancing involved with these TASSELS!! Paper tassels are CUTE embellishments for your cards, gift bags or boxes!!

100_4717

Here is what you need:

2 pcs. of Designer Series Paper cut 1-1/2" X 3"

  Sticky Strip

  Baker's Twine - about 4"

Scissors - preferably Stampin' Up!'s Fringe Scissors because they speed up all those little cuts!

100_4719

On the BACKSIDE of the paper, apply Sticky Strip to the ENTIRE length of the top edge. Next fringe the paper up to the Sticky Strip. The Fringe Scissors makes this step a BREEZE!

100_4720

Remove the protective coating on the Sticky Strip. Lay the TWINE across the Sticky Strip and begin rolling the paper from one end to the other. SIMPLE! Repeat on the other tassel so you have PAIR attached to the same twine.

100_4723

The easiest way to attach to a card front is a BUTTON. Attach a button to your project using a Glue Dot. About mid- twine, wrap the twine around the button. You must TRY THIS!!

Ornamental Pine

100_4732

This stamp set, called Ornament Pine, is NOT just for the holidays!! It creates an awesome masculine  birthday!

100_4731

I used three different brown ink pads for the pine cones and punched them out with the 1" Square Punch. This is a simple, fast card for a guy!

100_4730

Give this a try!
