Fancy Foil Designer Vellum

2012-11-27 001 004This is NOT a black and white photo. These wedding cards are white Vellum and Silver - so lovely! Unfortunately, my photography skills are very limited.

2012-11-27 001 008

Tip: to attach the vellum, apply Glue Dots on the backside under the hearts so they don't show from the front!

SilverFancy Foil Vellum

Nine sheets of 12X12 silver embossed vellum - 3 each of 3 designs. Also available in gold.

Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum

#133364 - $10.95

2012-11-27 001 001

Wedding season is coming soon so here is a sweet idea! FIRST cut a heart shape using the Hearts Collection Framelits #125599. SECOND, add a texture to the same layer using an embossing folder. THIRD, apply Sticky Strip on the backside around the heart cut out. Fourth, attach Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Trim #130023 on the backside. Do NOT stretch the trim when applying. Lastly, apply the Whisper White cardstock and stamp "through" the heart shape. Attach flowers and finish.

2012-11-27 001 002

The Ruffled Stretch Trim is my favorite item and it's sadly retiring. It's only available while quantities last.

Blessed Easter watercoloring

2012-11-27 001 005

Continued from yesterday: I wanted shades of colors on these Tulips so I chose watercoloring to achieve the look. Using Shimmery White Cardstock, I stamped the image with StazOn Jet Black Ink. The Shimmery White cardstock has a finish that will take the water without rippling.

2012-11-27 001 002 (3)

My color source was Stampin' Up! Classic ink pads. I squeezed the lid BEFORE opening the pad which puts a puddle of ink on the lid. Then I used an Aqua Painter filled with tap water to collect the ink and apply it to the images. Tulip colors are Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango. You try it!

Refer to yesterday's post for more info.

Blessed Easter Single Stamp

2012-11-27 001 008

I love Tulips because they announce SPRING!! The "Blessed Easter" Single Stamp has Tulips and an Easter Greeting in one images. So...look what I did:

2012-11-27 001 001 (2)

Using a very sharp craft knife, I carefully cut the Greeting from the image to increase the versatility of the image!! This is a wood mounted stamp and I mounted both on separate wooden blocks.

2012-11-27 001 009 (2)

Tomorrow, I'll give you tips on watercoloring this lovely image! Stop back.

Blessed Easter #133212 - $11.95

Edison Estate

1969-12-31 003 002

For my birthday we visited the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers, FL just 30 minutes south of our home. An IMPRESSIVE Banyon Tree greets visitors! In 1925, Harvey Firestone gave a 4 foot Banyon Tree to Edison in their search to find a domestic source of rubber. The milky sap can be used to create rubber. Now this tree covers an acre and is the largest of it's kind in the continental US.

1969-12-31 003 006

This is Thomas Alva Edison's (1847-1931) lab where he experimented with 1700 plants for latex to make rubber. His friend, Henry Ford also own a winter home on the property. They winter here with their families for over 60 years!

1969-12-31 003 005

Edison had only 3 months of formal schooling, because he was too "restless." His Mother, a teacher, taught him at home. Edison was 80% deaf in both ears, probably from a childhood illness. Nevertheless, he was a prolific inventor, named the 20th Century "MAN OF THE MILLENNIUM" by LIFE Magazine. He is the ONLY person to be granted a patent every year for 65 consecutive years! He was awarded a total of 1,093 US Patents.

1969-12-31 003 010

I was extremely impressed by the giant collection of tropical plants from all over the world. Here I am in front of a huge Staghorn Fern, just one of three hanging from this Virginia Live Oak! And I love all the ferns growing on the branches at the top right corner of this picture. A very interesting day!
